Thank you Liz, for the inspiration...

In the beginning, there was darkness, and it was flavorful. The gods
could be heard, but not seen. Then one day, when a great god was
visiting, one of the lesser gods, Water-Bringer, said, "let it rain,"
and steaming black rain fell from the sky. And the gods appeared to the
world. The world was covered with strong water, which the gods would
drink to grow stronger. But the lesser gods, hoping to impress the
greater god with their richness, made too much rain, and eventually
stopped drinking it, and the world, safely ignored by the gods, cooled
and became calm.

Each day, the light would shine from above and the gods would surround
the world. Each night the gods would leave, and darkness would set in.
It was that way for generations, and it was good, and life multiplied in
the world. Verdant greens, beautiful reds and vibrant oranges, huge
oases of life formed in the watery world. But the very act of
transforming and beautifying the world made the strong waters poisonous
to the gods. The gods grew displeased, and began to argue.

Look at that world, some of them said. Why should they get to enjoy the
strong water, polluting it such that we cannot partake when we wish?
Others argued for the world to continue unmolested. Some would visit the
world, enjoying its peace. Others would look on in jealousy. Fearing the
worst, one god, Lightning-Bringer, sought to capture the essence and
beauty of the world, which she did. But in capturing this world's
essence, she unwillingly precipitated its demise.

Why, another god asked, should we allow this world to continue as it is,
when we know that it shall ultimately end in death and desiccation. Like
all worlds, she argued, it would end as a polluted wasteland where no
life could grow. And as life in that world grows, it threatens life
among the gods more and more, for lo, though we live countless times
longer than the denizens of the world, we are not immortal.

Finally, fearing the jealous wrath of the greater gods, one lesser god,
Death-Bringer, came to the world and caused its destruction. Its essence
captured, what reason is there for the world to continue on its slow
path to destruction? She made the rains return to the sky, and with
them, all the life of the world left, and the world was created anew, an
empty vessel awaiting the return of life.

And yet, some say life survived those troubling times--tenacious as it
is. Some stories tell of a lone survivor of the world's destruction,
spared from the wrath of the gods and awaiting the moment that the rains
return. Of that survivor, the story is not yet written. But of the
world's essence captured by Lightning-Bringer, it is closely guarded by
all of the gods, so that they can remember that which they created in
all of its beauty.

Hope you enjoy(ed) the weekend,

- Todd

It shall forever remain a mystery... until the next generation is reborn
the next time coffee is made for a client. >;-)

Yes. They gave their life for our good health. Was it a fair trade?

Coffee Break anyone?

I personally prefer the penicillan blend you guys had on Tony's side of
the office. Perhaps it could have been the miracle cure for the nasty
flu that's going around...!
