Well, a high-pitched squeal could mean a variety of things for our IIg. Having dealt with similar things in the Stats Dept., I would suggest checking for the following things: (not necessarily in order of likelihood).

(1) Check for squirrels, birds, or other small game. If the platen has fried them, make a sandwich.

(2) It could be the excited profession of joy of a user who has printed yet another quality document.

(3) The resonant frequency of the laser is in phase with your tinnitus, John. See a doctor and quit going to the Slayer concerts.

(4) THE PRINTER IS POSSESSED. Highly unlikely, true, but you never know. Look for other signs, like spitting up toner in your face and saying things like "Your mother was a Hewlett Packard Deskjet", stuff like that.

If ya have any other printer problems, just let me know.

I noticed today that the laser printer was emitting a high pitched squeal as it was printing. Anyone have any idea why it's doing this? -John (hey I'm the mechanical engineer, not the laser printer repairman)
